Such beauty
I'm spending a couple of day back at my old place where I lived 7 years ago. Gotland is an island in the Baltic sea that is a part of Sweden, has about 60000 people living there and it's a very popular place for tourism. The extraordinary thing with Gotland is not only the nature and the special light, it's also the Medieval Wall (part of the World heritage) and the almost 100 Medieval churches spread all over the island. The first week in August they have a Medieval Festival were loads of people go to enjoy "The dark ages!"
I lived for 16,5 years on Gotland, and I always long back here. One day I hope to move back here but right now it's not doable.

So this weekend I decided to go visit with my friends in Norrköping once again, I have to say that this city really grows on my every time I go there. The fun thing as that I can even see myself living in this city, so why not learn more about it? The city is one of our oldest Industrial cities and the will be seen on my photos here too. I have to compare it with Tampere as I spent couple of days there last summer (there are some blogposts about it here at this blog if you're interested!) And its also one fact to know that Norrköping is a friendcity with Tampere. (Also with Odense denmark and Trondheim Norway btw)
Anyway I arrived in the afternoon and was greeted by my friend Anders (sliceonline on Twitter)
It was also a celebration of Anders birthday so after the party in the park, we all went somewhere outside the city and had an small afterparty.
Then Sunday after sleeping in, having coffee to kickstart us we went an a sightseeing tour on foot around the city. For me this one of the best things with coming to a new city, to get to know it's soul and heart. And I took a lot of photos walking arund there so now I will share it with you!
Its been a long time now since I blogged here at Vox, and it's been a reason for that. I will clarify a little now why and a little about the changes done here.
As this started out as a blog about Nokia N95, and that's still my phone btw (can't afford to get a new one now...) has my interest in another area grown and taken over. Being unemployed makes you also change the way you look at yourself, but for me the process has mostly been about finding a new path in life. So here I am, improved, sligtly poorer but so much happier about life and everything new I met on daily basis.
So my interest and also my career is now Socialmedia and that's what I'm all about now. This blog I will use to post random postings about my life as a digital nomad and give out tips about how to survive in the urban jungle.
So my hope is that you readers stick with me and mayb I will attract some new readers in the process too!
Never thought I would see a snowman this early, but I did.
It has now been one full year since I got my N95 and this makes it a perfect time to look back on whats been happening, what I have used it for and what softwares that's been on the top of my list.
First of all, it has been a crazy year with both good things and bad things happening, but when I look back I will only see the good things. And peeking it all was my little backpacking trip to Finland. Which I blogged here on Vox about.
When I got my N95 home I was basically in heaven, this phone had everything I could ask from it to have. And if one added some extra software it would be even better for sure. And since my digital camera broke one week prior my purchase of the N95 it could defiantly serve as my digital camera too.
I have always loved when you get a thing that has multifunctionality as the Swiss army knife (never without it!) or a leatherman (perfect for hiking or other outdoor adventures) and now the Nokia N95.
When I look back at this year I can see certain trends in how I use the device (besides making calls and texting or MMS), and that is:
So what software is my favorites then?
Maps and placement software:
Google Maps (for the ease of usage!)
Sportstracker (This software has improved my life!)
Location Tagger and ZoneTag Prototype (Getagging of photos, love it really!)
“There’s a thing in my pocket…..”
Remember that sentence? Well that started off me wanting an N95. When I
first read about it, it was a real revelation and I realized this was
the phone to get.
So when I had decided to get one, but first I needed to get some more information
and started to search the net, hungry for more information. Found loads
of links and blogs, and started reading blogs about the N95. What did I
found? Well a lot of information, software, utilities, accessories and……
Almost everyone of them had a widget called “Jaiku” on them. What is
now this? So I looked into it, and realized this was something called
microblog. So I started to search for other microblogs as I couldn’t
get an account with Jaiku right away as it’s an invite only service.
Found twitter and got my first account there.
I have to be honest, in the beginning I didn’t know what to do with it,
but I could see that people was writing one-liners about what they were
doing so I started doing the same. Not much happened for a couple of
weeks, but suddenly someone starting to write comments about what I was
doing. I had my first follower! I was alive in the microblog, it was a
really nice feeling. A little later I had my invite to Jaiku, so I
setup my account and started to search for my favorite blogger there
and added myself as follower to them. At this time I had started my
first blog and was in process of starting another one, specializing in
Nokia and especially in the N95. And told people that I would never
start a blog, and I did only read some occasionally before all this
happened.
Starting off
Now I was ready to go! Well what I wanted out of all this has gradually
grown and evolved through time. and I have to tell you it’s been an
journey in witch I have grown as a person in so many ways, and I have
both gained confidence and self esteem!
When I started to get responses on my own one-liners it was both
exciting and an experience and I really wanted to learn more about
Social Media and web 2.0. So where to go next?
Well I had a Facebook account, not much there at this time mainly a few
relatives and two old schoolmates. So i started to look for other
services. And at this time I had also decided to be as public as one
can be online, and if you wonder I’m aware of the risks!
Got more and more connected and added more and more services to my
Social media life, my new online life. Gosh it was so exciting to find
out how much cool things one cold do. But for me the main objective has
always been to make new friends, not to connect to as many services as
possible!
And more
Finding new services to get connected on wasn’t so hard to find. I
could see that a lot of my new friends were on Lastfm, Facebook, and
other ones so I started to connect myself to them there too.
And with Sportstracker suddenly exercise started to be fun, never had
that experience in my life. So not only have my social life started to
grow, even my health is improving along the way.
Now, and where to next?
I have had three short seminars about Social media and how to use it in
everyday life, Two at my former workplace and one for a group of people
that approached me after one of my posts on my blog. And it has been
great fun to do that, seems that the interest are endless, and the need
for information about social media can’t be fulfilled fast enough.
For myself I’m still checking up new services and reading more about
social media, and getting involved in debates about the future for it.
